According to data from the Spetsstal Association of Russia, the consumption of stainless steel products in Russia reached approximately 662000 tons in 2023, an increase of 27% compared to 2022 and 12% compared to 2021. Among them, imported products account for 73% of Russia's total consumption, with China being the main importer, accounting for about 67.6%, followed by India (20.3%) and Indonesia (6.5%). The Spetsstal Association stated that in 2023, the majority of materials for welded pipes and long pipe products will come from domestic sources, but Russian stainless steel products will mainly be made from imported semi-finished products. It is expected that Russia's stainless steel imports in 2024 may reach around 490000 tons, with a year-on-year increase of about 1%.
